Digital & Selective Soldering

Localized, programmable soldering technologies for precise thermal processing of electronic assemblies. Zealous integrates selective solder fountains, flux dispensing and digitally controlled photonic energy with XYZ motion to solder through-hole, connector and fine-pitch joints with minimal thermal impact on surrounding components.

Advanced Soldering

Soldering for heat-sensitive substrates in seconds, not minutes.

Zealous digital thermal processing enables the soldering of low-cost, temperature-sensitive substrates such as paper, plastic, fabric, or recycled heat-sensitive materials with standard lead-free solder pastes — using high-intensity flashes of light that preferentially heat the solder, not the substrate.

Why It Matters

Conventional soldering solutions in electronics manufacturing can be slow, damaging, and inflexible — allowing only limited materials and design choices.

01

Slow Reflow

Conventional reflow soldering is slow, with lengthy thermal soak times, low throughput and high energy demands.

02

Substrate Damage

Sustained oven heat damages temperature-sensitive substrates and components, restricting design and substrate options.

03

Material Limits

Standard lead-free solder pastes cannot be processed on low-cost, heat-sensitive substrates with conventional tools.

04

Inflexible Profiles

One profile fits all — components requiring different levels of heat cannot be soldered simultaneously.

Why we’re different

Digital Thermal Soldering

Powerful and configurable, Zealous digital thermal processing uses high-intensity pulsed light to preferentially heat the solder — not the temperature-sensitive substrates and components — erasing the limitations of conventional soldering.

  • 01Millisecond heating and cooling replaces expensive substrates such as ceramic with inexpensive paper or plastic
  • 02Standard off-the-shelf SAC305 lead-free solder paste on heat-sensitive substrates
  • 03No tool warm-up, easy on-off operation, and no thermal soak time for parts or fixtures
  • 04Multiple component types requiring different levels of heat soldered simultaneously
  • 05Controlled IMC formation with wetted, low-void solder joints and component self-realignment
  • 06Compact design with a small production-floor footprint

Because Zealous digital thermal processing preferentially heats the solder while sparing temperature-sensitive substrates, it is the ideal in-line, roll-to-roll-compatible soldering process for next-generation electronics manufacturing.
